What You’ll Be Doing
As the Production Supervisor / Coordinator for the Textile, Fashion Accessories & Stationery category, you’ll serve as the eyes and ears on the ground in China for our Canadian product development team. You will report directly to the category's Project Manager in Canada and collaborate closely with our vendors, factories, and designers. This role is critical in ensuring that our creative vision becomes high-quality, safe, and timely products.
You will manage production operations and supplier relations across a wide array of textile and lifestyle products — including but not limited to:
- Diaper bags
- Plush toys and dolls
- Backpacks
- Blankets
- Soft pouches and textile accessories
- Kids stationery collections (notebooks, pencil cases, etc.)
- Jewelry
Key Responsibilities
Production Management & Supplier Coordination
- Act as the direct liaison between our Canadian textile category team and Chinese vendors/factories.
- Conduct regular site visits to factories, HQs, and sales offices to ensure production adheres to timelines and standards.
- Oversee inline production inspections, shipping QC, and sample approvals for textile and stationery items.
- Ensure factories implement our strict quality, safety, and durability standards, in line with children’s product certifications (ASTM, CE, SOR, etc.).
Vendor Development & Relationships
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with existing vendors.
- Identify, audit, and onboard new vendors that meet our evolving needs in the textile and accessories segment.
- Serve as a key point of contact during factory audits and R&D evaluations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Support and guide the Canadian category team during sourcing trips in China.
- Provide weekly updates on production statuses, shipment readiness, risk points, and improvement actions.
- Assist with sample evaluations and technical clarifications regarding material quality, construction, and printing.
- Coordinate with vendors to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and escalate issues proactively.
Who You Are
Required
- Fluent in Mandarin and English (French is a plus).
- Experience in textile production supervision, ideally in toys, bags, plush, or stationery.
- Deep understanding of sourcing, quality control, and vendor management for soft goods.
- Strong ability to work independently while collaborating across cultures and time zones.
- Availability to travel frequently within China to support production stages.
Preferred
- Familiarity with children’s product safety standards (ASTM, SOR, CE, etc.).
- Experience working with North American brands.
- Assertive, detail-oriented, and solution-focused mindset.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
