Bikes FAQ
Here are some helpful (and important) tips to fully enjoy your new bike and make sure they last for as many years as possible!
Outdoor use care instructions :
- Do not leave the bike under the rain or let it get too wet. Your new balance bike is varnished and treated to survive a small amount of water, but it is not to be left under the rain or get wet. It is fully made of wood, so water can and might cause permanent damage to your bike. If you catch a bit of rain along your ride and your bike gets wet, simply wipe the water off the bike with a small towel.
- Tighten all screws and bolts of your bike on a regular basis to avoid losing precious pieces along the ride.
- Do not leave the bike under direct sunlight for too long. Your bike is just perfect for sunny days, but don't let it sit under direct sunlight when not being used to preserve the paint and colorful design for as long as possible.
- Store it in a warm, dry space when not being used.
Indoor use care instructions :
- Clean out the wheels with a small sponge or towel before using your bike indoors, if it was previously used outside, to avoid bringing any dirt into your home.
- The bike will leave no marks on the floor. Your bike is specifically designed to be safe for your floor.
We hope that your child will love riding the bike, whether it's in the street of your neighborhood or if your living room becomes a racetrack! Also got a helmet? Make sure to check out the Helmet Care Instructions.
In order for your little one to fully enjoy the benefits of their new balance bike, make sure you pick the right size for them. Here are our expert's recommendations to select the perfect sized bike for your child.
Recommandations based on age
Follow our age recommandations according to your child's present age. If you choose a bigger size so that the bike can fit for a longer period of time, keep in mind that it will probably be too big when you receive it, so your child might have to wait until they're able to properly use it.
If your child is :
NANO : 2 years and under
MINI : 2 to 3 years
GRANDE : 3 years and older
Recommandations based on inseam measurement
If your child is between two ages or if you feel like your child is particularly small or big for their age, you can also measure your child's inseam to help you choose the right size bike. The inseam is the measurement from ground to your child's pants crotch.
If your child is :
NANO : 13" or less of inseam
MINI : 13" to 15" of inseam
GRANDE : 15" or more of inseam
There is no perfect moment to convert your bike from 3 to 2 wheels, it truly depends on each child and their own comfort level. That said, here are some signs that your child might be ready to switch to 2 wheels:
- Your child is starting to feel like the trike goes too slow
- Your child is starting to lift their feet from the ground when riding
- Your child has a good level of general motricity and balance
- Your child is confident on the trike and feels ready to learn something new
